J's Beauty Calendar

Share

Every day of the week, something is done to Jannah's hair. Since I didn't know how to care for her beautiful hair properly for the first 3 and a half years of her life, there is a lot of damage that she has now that i am trying to take care of as best as I can. So that I will stay on top of my game, a beauty calendar was created for her that is hanging on the fridge. However, If we are travelling or something else comes up, I may skip many of these treatments except the vitamins, and will keep her style in for about 5 to 6 days.

Monday:
  • Style hair. Spritz with a mix of 4 drops lavender oil and 4 oz. water after styling.
  • One Flintstones Vitamin - Complete Formula
Tuesday:
  • Homemade Spritz with a mix of avocado oil, HEHH conditioner, drinking water. Spritz in the morning to moisturize hair.
  • One Flintstones Vitamin - Complete Formula

Wednesday:
  1. Hot oil treatment;
  • 1 tbs avocado oil, 1 tbs coconut oil, 1 tsp olive oil, 3 capsules wheat germ oil. Heat in the microwave for about 5 seconds. *Make sure it's NOT hot before applying to scalp!!!!*
  • Co-wash with HEHH and band hair over night.
  • One Flintstones Vitamin - Complete Formula
Thursday:
  • Style hair. Lavender Spritz; a mix of 4 drops lavender oil and 4 oz. water after styling.
  • One Flintstones Vitamin - Complete Formula
Friday:
  • Oil Scalp with Avocado Oil. Let sit for 1 hour. Co-wash with HEHH and band hair over night. *Every other Friday.
  • One Flintstones Vitamin - Complete Formula

Saturday:
  • If scalp was oiled night before then I will only style hair in a simple style for next days deep conditioning.

Sunday:
  1. Deep conditioning treatment using one of the following recipes; I try to switch up every week, still trying to find out what works best for her hair.
  • Homemade mayonnaise
  • 1 avocado, 1 tbs olive oil, 1 can coconut milk
  • 1 egg, 1/2 cup plain yogurt, homemade mayonnaise
    2.   Co-wash hair with HEHH and band over night.

This may sound like it's a lot of steps but it really isn't. I am a stay at home mom, and usually get things done when little Yu-Yu is asleep.

About

After trying to convince my husband to allow our daughter Jannah to receive her first "kiddie perm" at 3 years of age, I was devestated and even cried when his one and final answer was "NO WAY". At that time, I had no idea what I was doing with her hair. That was May 2010. Thinking back now, I was out of my mind thinking it ok to perm a 3 year olds hair. That just proved to me once again, that my dear husband is wiser than me! So, out of desperation I started researching online about how to care for biracial hair and this blog was created. I am still learning every day and decided to take you on this journey with me. I hope you enjoy!
